Brentford got back to winning ways on the weekend, producing an excellent away performance to inflict a 3-0 defeat on Wigan, their first win at the DW Stadium since 2001.

In a fiery encounter that saw both sides reduced to ten men, The Bees dominated proceedings against The Latics, with the standout moment in the contest a superb strike by Josh DaSilva from 25-yards out to make it 3-0 to the away side.

The TW8 side came into the game on the back of a defeat last time out to Huddersfield, and were dealt a blow as Said Benrahma missed out because of injury.

The result is Brentford's third away win in succession and moves the West London club into the top ten in the table.

With a tough test against another in-form side in Reading awaiting after the international break, Thomas Frank will be hoping that his side can build on the momentum gained from their recent impressive displays.

We break down three things that Brentford did so well against their opponents from Lancashire...

Brentford are improving at attacking set-pieces

It may not be a coincidence that a few weeks on from adding a set pieces coach to the backroom staff, Brentford have finally scored from a corner kick.

Malmo assistant coach Andreas Georgson officially started his new role as Head of Set Pieces and Individual Development at the beginning of November, and it is already having the desired effect.

Bryan Mbeumo's opener resulted from a corner routine, which is the only the second goal Brentford have scored from a set-piece this season.

Josh DaSilva deserved to be Man of the Match

The 21-year-old had an excellent game in midfield for The Bees, in what has been another to add to the collection of impressive performances.

His 25-yard strike to seal the points for The Bees was the main talking point from his performance, but the statistics show that the former Arsenal academy player worked very hard for his team at the DW Stadium on Saturday.

According to WhoScored, DaSilva produced four successful dribbles during the 90 minutes, and one successful tackle, showing how he impressed in a number of ways.

Julien Jeanvier's red card was needless

The centre-back was shown a straight red card in stoppage time after a scuffle broke out between players from both teams following the injury suffered to Wigan's Joe Gelhardt minutes before.

Jeanvier confronted Wigan's Jamal Lowe and Joe Williams as things got heated, and his suspension may be a blow for Brentford going forward.
