Wigan Athletic's impressive run of results continued on Wednesday evening, as they beat Reading 3-0 at the Madejski Stadium.

The Latics took the lead in this one as Kieffer Moore's clever flick beat Royals goalkeeper Rafael, in an almost identical goal to that he scored against Cardiff City earlier this year.

Reading struggled to create any sort of opportunity in this game, and fell two goals behind when they failed to clear their lines, as Jamal Lowe smashed home to double Wigan's lead.

Wigan were hit with a worrying injury blow late into the game though, as Chey Dunkley was stretchered off with a suspected broken leg.

The Latics rounded off the perfect away performance in stoppage time though, as Michael Jacobs' strong run saw him break into the penalty area, before lofting the ball over Rafael from a tight angle to make it 3-0.

The win for Wigan means that they're now just inside the relegation zone on goal difference, and are level on points with Middlesbrough.

We look at THREE things we learnt about Paul Cook's side after this impressive win over a below-par Reading side on Wednesday evening.

Dunkley's injury will be a real concern.

Dunkley only came on as a late second-half substitute on the night, but he was on the receiving end of a nasty-looking injury at the Madejski Stadium.

The central defender was involved in a collision with fellow Wigan team-mate Cedric Kipre, and Dunkley picked up a suspected broken leg.

He has been a key member of Wigan's squad this season, and is the club's top goalscorer alongside Kieffer Moore with six goals.

Jamal Lowe's goal will give him a much-needed confidence boost.

Lowe hasn't had the best of starts to life with Wigan in terms of goals, since he moved from League One side Portsmouth.

The 25-year-old scored 17 goals for Pompey last season, but had only netted twice for Wigan heading into the game against the Royals.

But Lowe showed composure and a clinical touch in front of goal as he smashed the ball home to double their lead on the night.

This will be a real confidence-booster for the forward, who could play a key role in their survival bid this season.

Paul Cook got his tactics spot on.

The Wigan boss clearly did his homework on who the Wigan players need to target in the game to stop Reading's attacking players.

The likes of Ovie Ejaria, John Swift and Yakou Meite were given hardly any time on the ball at all, and Wigan's pressure saw them on the front foot more times than not.

They dominated the game in terms of the statistics, and you would have thought that the Latics were the home side based on how comfortable they were in possession of the ball.

They'll be confident of forcing themselves out of the relegation zone in the near future after this unbeaten run.
