Sheffield Wednesday's poor run of form continued at the weekend, as they were beaten 3-0 by Reading at Hillsborough.

The Owls fell behind in the game after 21 minutes, when Ovie Ejaria's inch-perfect through ball found Yakou Meite, who poked past Cameron Dawson to give Mark Bowen's side the lead.

Sheffield Wednesday's chances of getting back into the game were dealt a significant blow when youngster Osaze Urhoghide was sent-off for a second bookable offence for a foul on Ejaria.

Reading's lead was then doubled when George Puscas deflected Any Yiadom's long-range strike past Dawson, before a late penalty from Sam Baldock rounded off a miserable day for Garry Monk's side.

The Owls are now sat 12th in the Championship table, and seven points adrift of the play-off places, which some sections of supporters might feel are already out of reach.

We take a look at THREE things we learnt about Sheffield Wednesday after this frustrating defeat on Saturday.

The pressure is growing on Garry Monk.

The pressure was already growing on Monk heading into the game against the Royals after his side were beaten by relegation-threatened Luton Town in midweek.

But his team were far from their best against Reading once again, which saw them come away with nothing to show for their efforts.

There will be concerns amongst supporters that Monk has 'lost the dressing room', and although that remains to be seen if it's true, something has to change, otherwise they can forget about finishing anywhere near the top-six this season.

If poor results are to continue, then Monk's days at Hillsborough could be numbered.

Urhoghide showed his inexperience.

The youngster has been hugely impressive since coming into the first team this season, but he had an afternoon to forget at Hillsborough on Saturday.

Urhoghide struggled to deal with the trickery of Ovie Ejaria, who caused him numerous problems throughout the game. A rash challenge when Ejaria was breaking away saw the full-back sent-off, which all but ended his side's chances of getting back into the game.

He'll need to learn from this and come back stronger, as it showed his inexperience in senior football with this poor decision whilst already on a yellow card.

Their play-off chances look bleak now.

The Owls are now seven points adrift of the play-off positions, so it looks difficult to see that Wednesday will manage to force themselves into the top-six anytime soon.

Confidence is clearly low amongst the players and the supporters at this moment in time, and the way they capitulated after the red card, will make for concerning viewing.

They're dropping points against teams that they should be beating on paper. But this hasn't been the case for one reason or another, and something has to change in the near future if they're to get back into the play-off places.
