Sheffield United got off to a disappointing start to the season, throwing away they lead and losing 2-1 to Swansea City.

In what was a fairly even game, the Blades took the lead after some good play set up George Baldock to finish.

Yet, Oli McBurnie equalised just nine minutes later before Yan Dhanda ensured the Swans would leave with all three points with an 85th minute winner.

The manner of the defeat will have frustrated fans of the Yorkshire club as they seemed to have the points in their grasp after going ahead in the second half.

Nevertheless, they will look to bounce back in tomorrow’s game against Middlesbrough at the Riverside to get their first points on the board.

Here’s three things they will have learn from the opening day defeat…

It wasn’t a disastrous performance from the Blades but it highlighted that they are lacking in key areas.

Chris Wilder has made no secret of his desire to bring in new faces and you can see why.

They were sloppy defensively at times, slow in possession and look a few players short of a side that could make the play-offs.

The big problem on Saturday was the creativity, with Wilder’s men only having two shots on target.

Many were surprised to see Ben Woodburn begin on the bench and whilst he didn’t do much when he came on, he is a creative player.

The trio that started on Saturday (Fleck, Lundstram, Evans) all have their own qualities but there was not enough imagination and progressive passing from the Blades and it needs to change.

Despite the negatives, the Yorkshire side still showed they are a tough side.

You have to remember they are playing a side that came down from the Premier League and had several good players on show.

In reality, there was little between the teams on the whole and there shouldn’t be a massive overreaction from fans to one defeat.
