Sheffield United picked up their first win of the season after beating Millwall 2-0 at Bramall Lane on Saturday.

It was a convincing display from Paul Heckingbottom's men, who were two up inside 22 minutes after goals from Iliman Ndiaye and Sander Berge.

In truth, the Blades probably should've won by a bigger margin, with Oliver Norwood missing from the spot just before the break.

Overall though, Heckingbottom will have been delighted with what he saw from his team, who are viewed as one of the favourites for promotion this season.

And, here we look at THREE things we learnt about the Yorkshire side following the win...

Anel Ahmedhodzic starts well

There was a lot of excitement when the Blades brought in the big Bosnian defender from Malmo and whilst this is just one game, you can see what the fuss is all about!

Ahmedhodzic was commanding from the first whistle and he showed that he is a good all-round defender with the way he used the ball as well as doing his job in helping the team to a clean sheet.

Of course, this is just one game but fans will like what they saw from the new recruit.

Iliman Ndiaye can become one of the best in the league

The Senegal international played his part in helping the Blades to the top six last season, scoring seven goals.

However, with Morgan Gibbs-White performing as he was, it sometimes felt as if Ndiaye was going unnoticed - at least to those who didn't follow the Blades!

Now though, the 22-year-old is ready to step up to be the main man and he scored the opener to put the team on their way. Promotion is the aim this season but Ndiaye will have his own individual goals and he should be aiming high, as he could be one of the top players in the division.

There are reasons for optimism

Many see Millwall as a side capable of pushing for the top six, so for Sheffield United to win with ease is promising.

They defender well, limiting the visitors to just one shot on target, they controlled the play and they scored two and should've had more.

After the opening day defeat, the Blades bounced back and you can see why they are viewed as real top two contenders.
