Rotherham United were held to a 1-1 draw by Coventry City at St Andrew's on Tuesday night, as the Millers picked up a point which maintains their position as League One leaders.

Paul Warne’s side headed into the game looking to secure back-to-back away wins after they had beaten Accrington Stanley 2-1 last weekend, and a win would have allowed the Millers to pull clear of second placed Coventry at the top of the League One table.

However, despite taking what was a deserved first half lead through Freddie Ladapo on 23 minutes, they were pegged back in the second half as Matt Godden levelled the scores just two minutes into the second period, which meant that Warne’s side had to settle for another important point.

Here then, we take a look at THREE things we learnt about Rotherham following their draw at Coventry…

Freddie Ladapo continues to impress

One of Rotherham’s most crucial performers over the last few weeks has been Ladapo and the forward continued to impress against Coventry, and despite his form and performances not always having been consistent throughout the campaign, he is now showing the type of quality he posses that convinced the Millers to bring him in last summer.

Against Coventry, Ladapo netted his fourth goal in five League One matches, with the striker again showing his composure in the final third to give the Millers the lead after 23 minutes, and that should keep the forward full of belief and confidence heading into the final stages of the campaign.

When you are chasing automatic promotion at this stage of the season, it is vital to have a striker full of confidence who is able to make that crucial difference in tight matches, and in Ladapo, Rotherham certainly have that player at the moment - and if he carries on this run of form then the Millers should be in with a real chance of returning to the Championship.

Rotherham continue to be tough prospect on their travels

The main reason why Rotherham have managed to get themselves into a position where they are top of the League One table has been their form away from home, and the Millers took their fine away record to one of the division’s best performing sides at home in Coventry and managed to come away with another important point.

Warne will even be frustrated that the Millers were not able to replicate the high levels of performance they showed in the first half throughout the second period, which if they had have done could well have seen them come away with all three points from St Andrew's.

However, after the Millers suffered a rare defeat on their travels at Peterborough United a few weeks ago, they have managed to bounce back picking up wins at Lincoln City and Accrington before Tuesday’s draw with Coventry – and that means they can be confident of maintaining their away form throughout the rest of the season.

Dan Barlaser could be a real miss for Rotherham

The main source of frustration for Rotherham following their draw at Coventry will be that Dan Barlaser was forced off the field on 73 minutes following a lengthy period of treatment, after he appeared to fall heavily on his ankle, before eventually being replaced by Shaun MacDonald.

Warne confirmed after the game that the midfielder will go for a scan but there is a hope the injury will not be as bad as first feared, but the Millers could still be without Barlaser for their next few matches depending on the extent of the injury which would be a real loss for their midfield.

Barlaser has emerged as one of Rotherham’s most influential performers over the last few months, with the Newcastle loanee growing in confidence with each passing game and really starting to prove his worth for the Millers, so it would be a blow to have him out of action for a period of time over the next few weeks.
