Nottingham Forest picked up yet another impressive result on the road at the weekend, defeating Swansea City by a goal to nil at the Liberty Stadium.

The Reds enjoyed a positive opening month of the season, beating the likes of Fulham and drawing with Leeds United away from home, and travelled to Wales embarking on an unbeaten run of seven games in all competitions.

Sabri Lamouchi would have known that his side were in for a tough game, though, with Swansea occupying top spot in the Championship table heading into the weekend's encounter - Steve Cooper's side making an outstanding start to proceedings.

But in the end, it was Forest who came out on top, with substitute Alfa Semedo rounding off an electric counter-attack to tap home with only five left minutes left to play.

That was enough for the Reds to snatch all three points and claim only their third league win of the campaign, with Lamouchi's side moving up to 10th place in the league standings.

After defeating the high-flying Swans away from home, we take a look at three things we learnt about Forest at the weekend...

Possession doesn't matter

It was very much a smash-and-grab win for Forest at the weekend, with the Reds allowing Swansea to dominate the ball throughout, but limiting them to very few chances.

Forest had 37% of the ball against the Swans, but offered real threat on the counter and ultimately scored the all-important goal.

Forest fans wouldn't have expected their team to go to the Liberty Stadium and look to dominate the ball - their game-plan was executed magnificently well, and the only stat that matters is the one that says how many goals were scored.

Lewis Grabban is the complete forward

A section of Forest fans - particularly those on social media - have had their moans and groans about Grabban in the early stages of the season, with many criticising his work-rate and demeanor up top on his own.

But those critics were silenced on Saturday afternoon, with Grabban putting in a majestic performance up top, against two commanding, tough central defenders in Mike van der Hoorn and Joe Rodon.

His work-rate and desire certainly wasn't in question either - the 31-year-old picked up a loose ball on halfway, ran almost 40 yards up-field before squaring it to Semedo who tapped in with ease.

He is everything you want in a Championship forward - he works hard, he scores goals, he finds himself in the right positions, and if Forest continue to play to his strengths, then they won't be far off promotion at all this season.

They are genuine promotion contenders

Forest look like a really solid, hard-working, exciting unit under Sabri Lamouchi, and the division should take note of their early season form.

They have already defeated Fulham and Swansea away from home - the former were expected to be right up there come the end of the season given the quality they have, especially in their attacking armory.

They have shown that they can win games in different types of ways - they looked as comfortable as ever at home to Birmingham when they won 3-0, but they have also shown that they can win a game simply by converting just one chance when it comes their way.

The Reds have also made the City Ground a fortress and haven't suffered a defeat since their opening day loss to West Bromwich Albion, and their squad depth is particularly impressive, given the fact that Lamouchi made five changes at the weekend.

They have gone toe-to-toe with some of the best teams in the division already, and with each player singing off the same hymn sheet, Forest are definitely a team to watch out for this season.
