A Callum O'Hare goal in stoppage time sealed all three points for Coventry City as they came from two down to beat fellow play-off hopefuls Blackpool 3-2.

The Sky Blues trailed after just a minute at St. Andrew’s, with Sullay Kaikai opening the scoring with a classy volley.

Simon Grayson’s side continued to impress initially and deservedly went two up when the former Crystal Palace man scored again, this time from close range.

At that stage it appeared Coventry would fall to their first defeat of the season but they rallied quickly, with Matt Godden and Wes Jobello responding to ensure they went in at the break level.

It was a remarkable turnaround and it gave Mark Robins’ men the momentum going into the second period, although they struggled to create clear chances despite dominating possession.

That was until Aston Villa loanee Callum O’Hare popped up in the last minute to seal the points.

Here we look at THREE things we learnt about the Sky Blues following the vital victory…

They have adapted to their tough new surroundings

Everyone knows now about the awful situation Coventry are in off the pitch and it’s a disgrace that they are having to play their home games in Birmingham.

However, the decision has been made now and it’s not going to be changed, so all they can do is get on with it – and that’s exactly what they’re doing.

O’Hare’s goal made it four from four at St. Andrew’s and whilst only around a fifth of the ground is getting filled for home games, the fans that do go are making a noise.

They all deserve credit for adapting so quickly because their home form is going to be key to any potential promotion push for the club.

Liam Walsh can be an inspired signing

The midfielder joined late in the window on loan from Bristol City and he was handed his debut yesterday.

And, despite a slow start, he showed what all the fuss is about and his display suggests he will be a key player for Robins moving forward.

Walsh was at the base of the midfield three and he set the tempo. Capable of picking the ball up in tough positions, he found players in pockets and was very progressive in the way he plays.

With energetic duo Zain Westbrooke and Jordan Shipley driving forward, there was a real balance to the midfield but there’s no doubt that the new recruit was the standout player for Coventry, particularly in the second half when he ran the game.

There is a real belief in the team

Robins will take real encouragement from the way his side battled to the win yesterday and how they stuck to their principles.

When you are two goals down, there can be a temptation for players to hide and for a more direct approach.

But, that didn’t happen with the Sky Blues and once Matty Godden pulled one goal back you felt a win was possible. They continued to play out from the back, they continued to probe for openings and they showed a real spirit to keep going until the end when they got maximum points.
