Bradford City moved up to sixth in the League Two table with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Swindon Town at Valley Parade on Saturday afternoon.

The Bantams have struggled for consistency in their results so far this season, but will be keen to build on an impressive showing against the Robins.

Gary Bowyer's side took the lead on the day through Hope Akpan who scored on his return to the starting XI in place of the injured Matt Palmer.

But that lead didn't last long, with Jerry Yates equalising for the visitors just five minutes after Akpan's opener on the day.

Bradford's Shay McCartan netted the winner though, with the second-half substitute scoring nine minutes after replacing Zeli Ismail.

The Bantams held on to move ahead of Swindon in the League Two table, and will be keen to challenge for an immediate return to League One this term.

We look at THREE things we learnt about the Bantams after this impressive win.

Paudie O'Connor's injury will be a concern

O'Connor has been a key player for Gary Bowyer's side, as they look to win promotion back into the third tier of English football at the first time of asking.

The former Leeds United defender has made six league appearances for the Bantams this season, but was substituted late on into the win over Swindon.

It remains to be seen as to what the extent of his injury is, but Bradford's supporters will be hoping that the injury isn't as bad as first feared.

Fortress Valley Parade?

Bradford's home form was extremely poor last season, which contributed to their somewhat surprising relegation from League One.

But they've started this year's campaign strongly in League Two, and have only dropped four points in their opening six league games at Valley Parade.

They've also won their last three league games at home, and will fancy their chances of making Valley Parade a fortress as the season progresses.

They've shown they can cope without Palmer

Losing Matt Palmer for the foreseeable future will have been a huge blow for the Bantams, as he had been a key member of Gary Bowyer's squads this term.

But Palmer's replacement Hope Akpan certainly took his chance in the starting XI, which will be pleasing to see for Bowyer and the club's supporters.

Akpan has struggled for regular game time this season, with the former Reading midfielder making just three league starts for the League Tow outfit.

He didn't do much wrong on the day though, and scored the opener for Bowyer's men to set them on their way to an important win.
