Blackpool's play-off bid was hit with a frustrating blow on Tuesday evening, as they were beaten 2-1 by Wycombe Wanderers at Adams Park.

The Chairboys raced into a two-goal lead on the day, with goals from Nick Freeman and Alex Samuel seeing the home side have some breathing space after just nine minutes.

Blackpool rallied in the second-half, but were unable to halve that lead until late into the contest, when substitute Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall pulled a goal back.

But they couldn't find an equaliser, as they remain 15th in the League One table.

The defeat for Simon Grayson's side means that the Tangerines are now ten points adrift of the play-off places, which will make for concerning reading for the club's supporters.

They'll be hoping they can find a much-needed positive result on Saturday, when they return to action against high-flying Oxford United.

We take a look at THREE things we learnt about Blackpool following their latest defeat at the hands of the Chairboys.

Simon Grayson's team selection was questionable.

There was certainly some surprising calls made by Grayson when Blackpool's team for the game against Wycombe Wanderers was announced on Tuesday.

The Tangerines boss opted to bench top goalscorer Armand Gnanduillet and experienced midfielder Liam Feeney, and it was evident that they missed their presence in the game against the Chairboys.

Curtis Tilt was another player that has been impressive for Blackpool this season, but he was benched for the game on Tuesday evening.

The substitutions all made an impact on the night.

As previously mentioned, Simon Grayson threw up some surprises in his starting XI for the game against Wycombe, and that meant that some of his key players were named as substitutes.

But all of his second-half substitutes made a positive difference for the Tangerines when they were introduced.

Armand Gnanduillet (pictured) and Liam Feeney came on in the clash against the Chairboys, and they'll feel as though they are more than deserving of a starting spot in their next game against Oxford United.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall was introduced at half-time as well, and scored his first goal for the club since arriving from Leicester City on loan on Monday.

The pressure is growing on Simon Grayson.

The defeat to Wycombe might not have come as a surprise to many, with the Chairboys being well in the hunt to win promotion into the Championship this season.

Blackpool had previously been challenging for a top-six finish this term, but a recent slump in form has seen them fall away from the play-off chasing pack in League One.

The Tangerines are without a win in their last nine games in all competitions, and they simply have to find a much-needed win at the earliest of opportunities, otherwise they could slip further down the table.

You have to feel as though Grayson's days at Bloomfield Road are numbered if this poor run of form continues into February.
