Leeds United earned a well deserved point from promotion chasing Derby County in a thrilling game at Elland Road.

It was visiting Derby that got off to a great start, with Hendrick put them 1-0 up through some great touches and some questionable Leeds defending.

Derby were in control until their keeper made a mess of a cross into the box, with a poor punch, he then pushed Dallas' chip straight to Leeds captain Bamba who powered home the equaliser, sending the teams in level at the interval.

The second half started as the first ended, both teams playing good attacking football, but defending seemed to be an after thought for both teams.

Leeds took the lead through Kiwi striker Chris Wood after good work from Sam Byram but Derby salvaged a point through Tom Ince who came on as a substitute, making his tally four goals in four games.

Here are three things we learned from the match......

1) Leeds can make the play-offs

Forget all the nonsense surrounding the chairman, this Leeds Squad under Steve Evans could make the play-offs, as they have shown they can match the top teams in the Championship.

Their current form could see them in the top six, they are now in 12th place, nine points behind Ipswich, playing like this they can close the gap.

2). Draws could cost Derby

Derby County's ninth draw of the season, was a thrilling one but if they had taken all three points they would of started 2016 top of the Championship.

Derby have an incredibly talented squad, but the draws could see them finish behind current leaders Middlesbrough.

Paul Clement will be keen to turn the draws into wins in 2016.

3) Leeds need Sam Byram

Leeds need to somehow convince Sam Byram that he should stay at Elland Road, the talented young midfielder was involved in both the goals.

Until his bit of magic in the first half, Leeds were going nowhere, then he fired them up, and got them playing, the Yorkshire club simply need his magical ability to propel them up the table.

Though, it might take a fair bit of work from Steve Evans to convince the youngster to remain at Elland Road.

Leeds and Derby fans have your say...........Where do you think Leeds will finish? Will Derby invest in January? Can Leeds keep hold of Byram? Is Grant Derby's weak link? have your say in the comments below!
