Morecambe salvaged a point in dramatic fashion to deny Portsmouth all three points with an injury time equaliser, from their keeper!

Portsmouth were on course to pick up all three points in last night's League Two match, they had been in control of the first half and made that dominance count as they took the lead five minutes before the break, through Gareth Evans.

Morecambe came out in the second period and competed, as both sides looked for the next decisive goal.

Neither side could find that breakthrough and the game looked like it was going to end in Pompey's favour.

Then deep in to stoppage time, Morecambe Keeper Barry Roche went up for a corner in a last gasp effort to snatch a point, he then out jumped the Portsmouth defence to head home and salvage a point for the home side.

Here are THREE things we learned from last night's score draw between Morecambe and Portsmouth.....

1). Keepers cause chaos

The 33-year-old Morecambe keeper Barry Roche has played 492 times in his career, and now has a goal to his name.

As is often the case when a keeper comes up for corners or free kicks, it causes absolute chaos in a defence, no one knows who should pick them up and more often than not that dismay leads to an opportunity.

2) Portsmouth look very strong

Although they may not of picked up all three points in last night's match they played some exceptional football, and it is hard to argue that they will not finish inside the top three.

They still have to play all of the top three before the end of the season and on this evidence they can take points off their promotion rivals.

A bit of composure in front of goal and they would of taken one of the eleven chances that they had created, during last night's match.

3) Morecambe will be mid-table

Morecambe are in no danger of getting caught up in the relegation drama but on the other hand, they do not have enough about them to trouble the teams at the top end of League Two.

They play some half decent football, and in the summer with a few additions they could push on towards the play-offs next year but this season a consolidation in mid table is where we expect Morecambe to be in May.
