Nottingham Forest slumped to a 2-0 loss at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday to make it three games without a win for Montanier's men.

On the other hand, Wolves climbed to within one point of Forest with the victory and they sit 5 points clear of the drop zone after an assured away performance.

The game started as a cagey affair with two teams obviously lacking confidence but it sparked to life after the opener on 40 minutes.

Helder Costa, who was an injury doubt coming into this clash, handed the visitors the lead just before half time before Ivan Cavaleiro finished the game off by doubling Wolves' lead on the counter attack towards the end of the match.

This means that both teams sit just clear of the relegation zone at Christmas but will need to improve in the second half of the season.

Here are 3 things we learned from today's match.

Forest need players back from injury

Nottingham Forest have been heavily hit with a number of injury setbacks, which weakened them ahead of this match.

While they won't want to use that as an excuse, they were clearly lacking the creativity of Henri Lansbury in midfield and the clinical finishing of Britt Assombalonga up front.

Add the absences of Damien Perquis, Nicklas Bendtner, Matty Fryatt, Chris Cohen, Danny Fox, Dani Pinillos, Armand Traore and Thomas Lam to the equation and it's a tricky situation for Forest to cope with.

Has Montanier lost the dressing room?

Speaking after the match, Montanier admitted that the players did not play well but is that something to do with him losing the dressing room?

Joe Worrall added that a number of players didn't "relish" the chance to pull on the red shirt as much as they should.

Wolves' attacking players can do damage

Wolves have been toothless for much of the season in front of goal but Lambert is quickly discovering that Helder Costa and Ivan Cavaleiro are his two most potent attacking outlets.

Both of them scored today and caused constant problems for the makeshift Forest defence.

If they can start doing this on a more regular basis then the Portuguese pair could fire Wolves out of their relegation battle and up the league.
