3 things we learned from Ipswich Town’s 2-1 win over Leeds United

Ipswich Town came from behind to claim all three points in this Championship match at Portman Road, in a evenly contested encounter.

Leeds United took the lead in under a minute against play-off hopeful’s Ipswich Town, through Souleymane Doukara.

Leeds almost doubled the lead a few minutes later but squandered the chance, Leeds held out until after the half time break.

Ipswich leveled five minutes into the second half, with Luke Chambers heading in Ryan Fraser’s cross, Ipswich piled on the pressure and missed several chances and many thought the second would not come.

In the 92nd minute though Brett Pitman, Ipswich snatched the winner for the Tractor Boys, sealing all three points for Mick McCarthy’s team.

Ipswich move up to fifth with this win while Leeds are stuck down in 15th place, twelve points from the play-offs and eleven from relegation.

Here are THREE things we learned from Ipswich’s 2-1 victory over Leeds…..

1) Leeds will finish mid table.

Too good a side to be dragged in to a relegation battle but not good enough to make a challenge at the other end of the division either.

Leeds will be mid-table and should use the remainder of the season to sort out behind the scenes, and prepare for a promotion challenge next season.

If they can keep hold of their young stars and sign the right players in the summer, Leeds can make a real go of it next year.

2) Ipswich will surely be in the Play-offs

Leeds are not a bad team, but Ipswich made them look ordinary with an outstanding performance.

Ipswich fell behind to a bizarre goal and it took about ten minutes to recover, but from then on they bossed the game.

The Tractorboys, were superb and could have scored five or six, as they poured over the Leeds team and ran them ragged.

3) Mick McCarthy knows how to build teams

Mick McCarthy certainly knows what it takes to build a side to get promoted from the Championship, this Ipswich side is one of his best.

They play exciting attacking football, they have pace through out the side, quality forwards, and are solid at the back.

They do not have the biggest budget in the Championship and that at times might show with certain players, but as a team they are very, very good.

Ipswich and Leeds fans have your say……….Who would you like to sign this January? Can Ipswich get automatic promotion? Where will Leeds finish this season? Let us know below!
