After a slow opening to the game, it came to life after Wednesday's keeper fouled Tony Watt in the area, and Craig Noone converted the resulting spot-kick for the hosts.

Then in the 34th minute, Joe Ralls played an exceptional through ball that sent Anthony Pilkington clear of the Owls defence. He then rounded the keeper and rolled the ball into the empty net.

Wednesday keeper Westwood made a brilliant save from Watt to prevent Carlos Carvalhal's side from going three down.

After the break, Wednesday changed formation to attempt to get a foothold in the game and, in the 61st minute, Fernando Forestieri stepped up and with no options he chose to shoot and the low drive nestled into the bottom corner, giving the visitors hope.

Then with 14 minutes to go the visitors drew level, Barry Bannan rifled home the leveler from a Ross Wallace cross.

FootballLeagueWorld writer Anthony Yeo identifies three things that we learned from the 2-2 draw between these two play-offs hopefuls...

1) Cardiff need to rediscover killer instinct

Cardiff have blown a two goal lead twice now at home which must be a worry for manager Russell Slade, especially in their quest for a place in the top six.

They had chances to put Wednesday away but failed to put to do so, and it ultimately cost them two points, and their place in the play-off positions.

2) Both teams have a chance

The draw didn't benefit either team but they both have the fire power to trouble any team in the division.

If they can tighten up at the back and become more consistent they will be in the mix come May.

We could be seeing this fixture post season in the play-offs.

3) Cardiff's home form is superb

For Cardiff to maintain their challenge, the home form of the Bluebirds is crucial.

Having lost only once at home this season, they have made a trip to Wales a formidable one.

Although they blew a two goal lead yesterday, most teams will go there and struggle to cope with the Bluebirds' attack.
