Ben Osborn put the home side ahead on the half-hour mark, turning on the spot to guide the ball into the far corner through a crowded penalty area.

It took Bristol City just 11 minutes to respond, with Jonathan Kodjia burying the rebound from Joe Bryan's shot, which hit the post.

And it was centre-back Aden Flint who scored the winner with 20 minutes to go, flicking a corner into the net beyond Dorus de Vries.

City jump ahead of Fulham into 19th place, and only behind Blackburn Rovers on goal difference. In fact, they are just two points behind Huddersfield Town in 16th place.

Nottingham Forest, on the other hand, slip to 15th, with 42 points from their 33 games so far this season.

FootballLeagueWorld writer Ryan Evans identifies THREE things we learned from yesterday's clash at the City Ground...

1) Four wins in their last five and fourth place in the form table

Having swept the floor in League One last season, Bristol City struggled to get going in the Sky Bet Championship, winning just one of their first eleven matches and sitting bottom of the league at the start of October.

Steve Cotterill got the sack on the 14th January, before new boss Lee Johnson took over at the start of February. Since then, their form has been remarkable, and only Burnley, Brighton and Hove Albion, and Preston North End have more points from their last six matches.

On Saturday, they completed the double over Nottingham Forest, having previously beat them at Ashton Gate in mid-October. Things are starting to look up for the Robins, who now have an eight point safety net on the relegation zone, and look like they will stay in the second tier come May.

Johnson and the City players can be proud of their efforts in February, and it would be no surprise to see the new manager win manager of the month when the results are announced.

They entertain play-off contenders Cardiff City next weekend, and you wouldn't put it past them to cause a shock.

2) Three defeats on the bounce for Forest

On the complete reverse, Nottingham Forest find themselves on the back of a third straight defeat, losing to Huddersfield and Burnley before Saturday's loss.

Dougie Freedman's men had previously gone 13 games unbeaten, but will be bitterly disappointed with this latest loss considering they were ahead and didn't look like losing.

With important matches against Ipswich Town and Preston in the next ten days, they will need to find their form again, and quick.

Whilst they have enough breathing space over the relegation battle, they won't want to drop any further down the league table.

Can Forest start to clamber back up the league?

3) Luke Freeman shines again

A massive part of the Robins' upturn of form has been the improved performances of Luke Freeman.

The 23-year old hasn't been able to settle into a position this season, having been played all over the place, but has been an important part of this side, making five goals for his teammates.

He has three assists in his last four, and is stringing together good performance after good performance.

Should City continue to steer clear of the relegation zone, you would think that Freeman would have a lot to do with it.

Can Freeman continue in this great form.

Forest fans... what do you think? Can you turn your form around? How disappointed were you to end up on the losing side on Saturday?
