Brighton and Hove Albion are really the surprise team in the Sky Bet Championship this season after another victory, the latest being a 2-1 win over MK Dons.

The Seagulls remain the only team in England's top five divisions and set a club record on Saturday after extending their unbeaten streak to 17 games.

Brighton went into the game with three draws in a row and looked to get out of that phase. MK Dons haven’t had the best of runs, but secured an important win over Charlton Athletic on Tuesday night.

However, it was Brighton that came out on top as first half strikes from Solly March and Jamie Murphy helped them to a 2-1 win. Nicky Maynard hit a consolation for the visitors midway through the first half.

The defeat for Dons means they sit just one place above the drop zone on 14 points, while Brighton climbed back up to second, level on points with league leaders Hull City.

Brighton are still unbeaten, but what did we learn from yesterday's game:

1) Brighton continue to impress despite their injuries

When key players like Kazenga LuaLua and Gordan Greer were ruled out for the Seagulls, you wondered whether this would be a knock on effect for their unbeaten season.

Yet Brighton have not let that affect them, and look like an established side to push for that automatic place. Chris Hughton has got a seriously good squad, and one that continue to push for promotion.

2) Robinson’s frustration with the referee

MK Dons should have had a penalty in the second half as Lewis Dunk appeared to make no contact with the ball as he slid through Samir Carruthers in the Brighton box.

Dons boss Karl Robinson heavily criticised the referee after the game, and described the ref’s decisions in today’s game as terrible.

Robinson might be waking up tomorrow morning with a fine from the FA after his strong words about the officials.

3) MK Dons' terrible away record

MK Dons seem to have no luck away from home, as this was their third away defeat on the spin.

They have only picked up four points from their eight away games this season.

Dons have been very inconsistent and will need to pick up points away from home this season if they want to stay in the division.

Brighton and MK Dons fans….. what did you make of the game? Is Robinson right to feel angry with the referee not giving a penalty? How long can you go undefeated Brighton fans? Let us know your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!
