Blackpool climbed out of the relegation with a convincing 2-0 win over fellow relegation strugglers Crewe Alexandra at Bloomfield Road.

Crewe manager Steve Davis thought his side deserved something from their defeat to Chesterfield yesterday
Steve Davis' Crewe are rooted to the bottom of the division

It took until the 64th minute for the first goal to come, when Hayden White netted his first professional goal with a good finish from just outside the area.

The game was sealed when Crewe defender Chris Atkinson felled David Norris in the box, allowing Jack Redshaw to dispatch the ball past Ben Garratt to lift Blackpool out of the relegation zone.

The defeat leaves Steve Davis' Crewe five points off of safety, and firmly rooted to the bottom of the table.

Here are three things we learned from the bottom-of-the-table encounter:

1) Things are finally looking up for Blackpool

Despite the huge off-field problems, things are looking better on the field for the Tangerines.

Although Crewe aren't the strongest of opposition, for the first time in years, Blackpool are showing signs of improvement.

That was a third win in five for Neil McDonald's side, who are also unbeaten in that time and, for the first time in a while, they are out of the bottom four.

2) Crewe are staring down the barrel

Crewe have by far the worst goal difference in the league, and are three points off of 23rd place Swindon Town.

Whilst Crewe fans are used to relegation scraps, they've been near the bottom of League One for the last few seasons, this time they may have bitten off more than they can chew.

However, a 2-1 win over Barnsley a few weeks back does indicate that they have the quality to win games at this level, but they've got to start picking up these wins more frequently if they are to avoid the drop.

3) Blackpool need to keep attacking

Pool had 14 shots, 10 of which hit the target, so the attacking mentality is clearly working for the Tangerines.

In future games, if they go out attacking from the get-go, they may find themselves clawing their way up the table, and on the road to recovery.

They've still only netted 12 times this season (only Doncaster Rovers have scored less), so they'll have to be more clinical if this attacking mentality remains throughout the season.
