Blackburn Rovers staged a come back to beat struggling MK Dons 3-2 at Ewood Park and move further away from the danger zone of The Championship.

Blackburn were trailing at half-time as Samir Carruthers gave the visitors the lead  on the 36th minute with a wonderful curling left foot shot.

The second half saw Blackburn come out with renewed vigour and Jordi Gomez restored parity with a powerful header on the 53rd minute.

The hosts then took the lead with Elliot Bennett driving a low shot past the MK Dons keeper. Only for Alex Revell to put things all square four minutes from time.

MK then dug in and looked to have secured a point until Jordi Gomez had a stoppage time free kick which he curled over the wall into the Mk Dons goal giving Dons keeper Cody Cropper no chance.

Final score 3-2 to Blackburn Rovers and MK Dons though find themselves deeper in the relegation mire as Rotherham beat Brentford.

Here are THREE things we learned from Blackburn's 3-2 win over MK Dons.

1) Defensive lapses cost MK Dons

This season MK Dons have played some really attractive football and have competed in more or less every game they have played in.

The problem they have had and have not found a way to eradicate from their team a the defence seem to switch off and concede unnecessary goals.

Yesterday was a prime example as they were on top and let Gomez almost have a free header to bring Blackburn back into the game.

2) Blackburn are not in danger of going down

On this display they have no fears of going down this season, it was an unlikely event but they were still perilously close to the bottom three.

They now have a eight point cushion over the relegation zone and should have enough about them to pull further away from the danger zone.

Rovers look a very strong outfit in front of their home supporters and a few more results and performances like yesterday should see them safely through to next season.

3) Jordi Gomez should be playing at a higher level

The 30-year-old midfielder could still do a job in the top flight of either England or his home nation of Spain.

Gomez joined Blackburn for the remainder of the season from Premier League side Sunderland to get some much needed game time but he could still be performing for a side in the Premier league.

Perhaps Sunderland should of kept him at the club to aid with their own relegation battle his goals could be as vital to them as his was to Blackburn this weekend.
