Last night, Fulham took on Charlton Athletic at The Valley and the game turned into a stalemate as neither side was able to break the opposition defence down.

The Cottagers had the best chances during the 0-0 draw, with Dillon Phillips being called into action to deny Bobby Reid three times during the first half, as well as left-back Joe Bryan dragging a shot just wide of the far post as he drove forward from left-back.

Michael Hector had an opportunity at the back post from a corner, but he could only head over as Fulham failed to get past Phillips.

As Cottagers manager Scott Parker looks back at the game, here is three things we learned about Fulham after their draw...

Need another striker

With Aleksandar Mitrovic being ruled out of the game with an ankle injury, Bobby Reid stepped into the central striker role.

He played a false nine role as the summer signing drifted around the pitch, but when faced with a few chances in front of goal, he failed to take them and was left with his head in his hands as Phillips proved to be a match for him.

With the January transfer window open until the end of the week, Parker may now deem it necessary to dip into the budget and sign a similar striker who can play the same role as the Serbian.

Have to maintain their intensity

During the first half, Fulham had a high intensity about their game as they moved the ball about quickly and had a directness in their play.

However, they dropped off in the second half as chances became less, and they struggled to regain that tempo to their game during the second 45 minutes.

If Fulham had maintained their intensity for the second half, then they would have broken down a tired Charlton defence and created more opportunities if they got themselves into the right areas.

Have their mojo back

The Cottagers seemed to falter slightly over the Christmas period as their form dipped, but the Charlton game indicated that they had rediscovered their mojo.

The way that Parker's side were moving the ball and seemed confident and composed in all areas of the pitch showed that Fulham are still up for a promotion fight, and they deserved more than a point from The Valley.

Fulham boss Parker will be instructing his side to keep playing the way that they did last night against Charlton, and the three points will return on a more consistent basis.
