Taylor back to his best

The striker staying is absolutely crucial to the long-term success of the club, and they simply have to keep the forward if they want to continue to progress. Charlton have been okay this season, but Taylor's goals are simply the main contribution that is keeping them in the Championship.

If they stay up and the striker still hasn't signed a contract, then he will depart and the Addicks will have to find someone else as well as look to strengthen their squad anyway. It is looking like more and more of a major blow every time he scores for the club - he was back to his very best on Saturday.

Change of formation worked

Lee Bowyer decided to switch the system from the five across the back that they had been playing to a more traditional back four. It worked a treat on Saturday and allowed an extra man in midfield which ended up being crucial in giving the side an opportunity of over-running the Hatters.

They maintained their good defensive balance and didn't look vulnerable at all, especially after going 2-1 up in the second-half. It shows Bowyer that his squad is versatile in playing different types of systems.

David Davis influential

The midfielder has been brilliant since joining the club and has added a lot of energy and work-rate to the midfield and the team in general. He's got a real knack for getting stuck-in and seems to be a good professional for some of the other players to look up to.

At times, you may not notice him but that's because he does the dirty work that not many realise he's doing. He has an effect on the side and it's not a coincidence that results have picked up since he's been at the club.
