Charlton Athletic earned a massive win at the weekend in the Sky Bet Championship as they went to Hull City and won 1-0.

The Addicks have had an up and down season and in the off-period, we saw off the field matters taking centre stage as a boardroom battle ensued.

That looks to have been solved now, though, and the men from The Valley can focus on trying to get to safety in the final eight games of the campaign, after kicking off in style at the KCOM Stadium.

With that in mind, then, we've taken a look at three things we learned about the side from the result as they moved out of the bottom three...

Togetherness intact

Despite everything that's gone on in recent months at the club, you saw a Charlton team fighting for one another at the weekend and that is all fans could have asked for.

Things away from the pitch have been dramatic to say the least but Lee Bowyer has kept his players motivated and that showed on Saturday. It was a hugely positive thing to see for Addicks fans.

Oshilaja a left-sided option?

Deji Oshilaja played at left-back at the weekend and put in a solid performance.

Lee Bowyer commented on how they had been working in training on him playing in that role and it seemed to have paid off, we'll soon see if he is now their go-to option on the left-hand side of defence.

It's back in their hands

Charlton are back out of the relegation zone and their destiny is back in their hands.

Several sides around them lost at the weekend, and the Addicks looked in better shape than some of their relegation rivals, so that will cheer fans.

All you can ask for at this stage is to have control of your destiny, and the club wrestled that back at the weekend.
