Following a rather difficult campaign last season for the Loftus Road club, some of the more pessimistic sections of QPR supporters were predicting another tough season this year.

In the opening handful of games, which included shipping seven goals at West Brom and a resounding 3-0 home defeat to Bristol City, the murmurings of discontent we heard at the beginning of the season became louder and louder.

Steve McClaren's men have seemingly turned the corner slightly, managing two home victories and a solitary win against Bolton and have lifted themselves out of the relegation zone.

The main aim for the players and the managers will undoubtedly be this season to stay safe and try and rebuild ahead of next season, although that lack of optimism may disappoint the Hoops fans.

A few trends have emerged so far which may help to explain the reasons behind the disappointing start to the campaign MCclaren's side have endured.

QPR have only found the back of the net on seven occasions so far this season and currently find themselves as the lowest scorers in the league.

To put this into perspective, West Brom managed the same amount of goals in 90 minutes against QPR at the start of this season.

In their two victories at home so far this season, QPR picked up five yellow cards in the two games. In their three home defeats this season, they picked up just 2 yellow cards.

Perhaps it pays for QPR to get stuck into the challenges at Loftus Road.

Only three players have featured in every single league game this year: Luke Freeman, Jake Bidwell and Massimo Luongo. 22 players have featured in a Championship game so far this year, with a further 6 players playing in the EFL Cup only.
