An awful lot was made by the media and by supporters alike of the appointment of Chelsea legend Frank Lampard at Derby County in the Summer.

Exciting young talent was recruited and joined a squad rich in Championship experience and quality.

Although the Rams have not exactly lit the Championship on fire since Lampard's takeover, they are currently in a very respectable 9th position in the table and battling to make their mark in the top six of the division come next Spring.

With inconsistency overshadowing the historical triumph at Old Trafford in the EFL Cup for some supporters, what must Lampard and his men do to ensure this season can be one where they fight for promotion - as opposed to it going down as a transition season where they never really looked likely to trouble?

Here are three things we have learnt so far in Derby's opening 10 games.

Having scored on his debut on the opening day, Mason Mount has scored five goals and picked up one assist this season in 11 games in all competitions.

Only Neal Maupay (3.6) has averaged more shots per game than Mount's total of 3.4.

Only bitter rivals Nottingham Forest have picked up more yellow cards (27) than Derby County so far this year, with 23 yellows being shown to Derby this year.

Graham Potter's Swansea City have only picked up three cautions so far this year in comparison.

Of the top 16 teams in the division, Derby have picked up the joint most league defeats so far this season having failed to pick up anything on four occasions.

Only newly promoted Wigan Athletic, who sit in 8th, have also picked up four defeats.
