Derby County host Hull City today in what promises to be a defining game in the play-off race.
Both teams start this one outside of the play-offs, with the magnificent Bristol City in the top six ahead of them.
Derby have been fairly inconsistent in the last month or so, with last weekend’s bore draw at Preston highlighting that.
Frank Lampard’s side have seemed a bit rattled by the whole Spygate saga, and have struggled for form since.
As for Hull, Nigel Adkins’ team have been one of the best teams in the division over the last two months and one can only wonder where they may have been if they hadn’t had such a poor start to the season.
However, both teams are still well within a shout of the playoffs, but both will be hoping to win this game.
Here, we look at three things we expect to see in the big match later today…
Ashley Cole to contend
Ashley Cole has a few days of training under his belt at Derby, and will have his eyes on Scott Malone’s left back position in the coming games.
Although he may not start, we think Cole will certainly be on the bench.
His experience could be crucial in the dressing room.
Jarrod Bowen playing with confidence
Both teams have two young talents playing in their attacking ranks, with Harry Wilson already earning vast praise from around the country this season.
Hull have a starlet too, in Jarrod Bowen, who we expect to be in tip-top condition again and look to be in the goals yet again.
A start for Andy King
Unlike Ashley Cole, who may not be match fit, Andy King could feasibly feature from the start today.
The deadline day signing for Frank Lampard has been training for a week now, and Lampard could choose to put him in for today’s game, which would give his midfield a different dimension.
