Aston Villa host Hull City today in what promises to be one of the fixtures of the day in the Championship.

Hull City travel to Villa Park on the back of a tremendous run over the Christmas period that has seen them climb into the top half of the table.

Prior to this run, the Tigers were in the bottom three and fans of the club were pessimistic about their chances of staying in the division.

Now, they are being talked about as promotion outsiders.

Villa represents their biggest test yet in 2019, and a win for the home side could see them leapfrog Hull in the table.

Dean Smith’s men enter the game on the back of a poor run of games, where they have lost 3-0 two games in a row.

Here, we look at THREE things to expect in the big game at Villa Park today…

Attacking football

If you look at the ‘goals for’ and ‘goals against’ tally for both of these teams, one thing is obvious: both teams are good at attacking, but not so great in the defensive aspect.

We expect both teams to enter this one going for the win, although Aston Villa arguably need it more, noting recent form for both sides.

It will be an attacking affair at Villa Park, which should provide for some thrills and spills.

Goals

With the attacking, there will be goals, we imagine.

Tammy Abraham, Villa’s star striker, will look to return to the scoring chart after drawing a couple of blanks since his decision to stay at the club.

For Hull, the likes of Fraizer Campbell and Jarrod Bowen always look worth a goal, and they could cause Villa some problems.

Exciting displays from future stars

With the attacking prowess of Tammy Abraham, and the exciting creativity of Jarrod Bowen, we could see two future stars of English football up against each other.

Abraham enters the game as the top scorer in the Championship, tied with Billy Sharp, and he will be hoping he can lead Villa to a top six finish.

As for Bowen, the forward has attracted Premier League attention understandably, and he will be looking to carry on his form as he looks to guide Hull to a shock play-off finish.
