West Brom’s alarming run of form continued last night as a Lee Tomlin free-kick condemned Albion to another defeat.

Slaven Bilic’s side are now without a win in seven league games, have lost top spot and are just two points clear of third.

Even though the Baggies dominated possession against the Welsh side, they struggled to create clear cut chances, although Kenneth Zohore almost salvaged a point in stoppage time.

Callum Paterson gave the hosts the lead before Charlie Austin equalised from the spot but that moment of quality from Tomlin settled the game.

The manner of the performance will have angered Bilic and he will be aware that this needs to change quickly if they are to win promotion.

Here we look at THREE things we learnt from Albion’s latest loss…

New signings are desperately needed

The ex-West Ham chief has made it clear that he wants new faces through the door before Friday’s deadline and this proved the Croatian is right.

Albion have gone off the boil and the team needs freshening up. They are lacking depth in key areas and that spark in the final third is missing.

They have a few days to solve this problem and it will be interesting to see who comes in.

They rely on Grady Diangana

This was pretty obvious but the defeat to the Bluebirds just reinforced how important the West Ham loanee is to the team.

They haven’t won in the league since he picked up his injury at Birmingham and his recent setback was a huge blow.

Thankfully for the Baggies, the England U21 international will be returning soon and he will make such a difference to this team.

Bilic needs to find his best XI

The fact Albion’s two wins in the past six weeks have come in the FA Cup, when Bilic has heavily rotated, has created a problem for the boss as he won’t know his best team.

That was evident last night as Dara O’Shea was handed a start ahead of Darnell Furlong and there could be more questions ahead of Saturday’s game with Luton.

Does Gareth Barry deserve a start? Or even Jonathan Bond in goal? This West Brom side picked itself earlier in the campaign but that’s not the case now.
