West Brom have had a mixed start to the season but another away win has got them back on the right path and should help to boost confidence.

The Baggies were trailing at the break before an inspired substitution saw new signing Grady Diangana score twice in seven minutes after coming on, to mark his West Brom league debut in style.

Slaven Bilic knows all about the youngster from his spell at West Ham and his decision to bring him in has quickly been rewarded.

The Croatian went with the same starting line-up for a third consecutive league game, which saw the Baggies operate with a passing style once again, but they struggled for clear openings prior to Diangana's introduction.

West Brom have been effective without particularly impressing so far this season, and here are three things we learnt from their clash with Luton.

Grady Diangana can have a big impact straight away

Diangana showed glimpses of his talent last season in the Premier League with West Ham, and now he is making the most of the opportunity to show what he can do on a regular basis.

His main strengths are in dribbling past defenders and creating space for teammates, but he showed that he is not afraid to have a go from long range and produced the quality to find the bottom corner.

Although he could struggle to displace Matt Phillips from the right-flank he should soon work his way into the starting line-up, as his pace and direct running is great at unnerving defenders, and he has an eye for goal.

The move from West Ham could have taken a while for Diangana to get used to but he has shown a great attitude and determination to impress, which was reflected in his performance and could lead him to break into the side earlier than expected.

It may take a while for the strikers to find goalscoring form

The key for West Brom this season is finding a way to replace the goals Dwight Gayle and Jay Rodriguez scored and so far their replacements; Kenneth Zohore and Charlie Austin, have scored just one goal between them.

Zohore is more suited to a hold-up role and he has operated effectively as a target man, but if the Baggies are to challenge for the play-offs or the automatic positions then they need a reliable goalscorer.

Charlie Austin could be that player. In his last 74 Championship appearances he has scored 50 goals, so if Bilic can play to his strengths then he should provide a good return, but until he does West Brom could struggle for goals and may have to grind out results as they have done so far.

Both Zohore and Austin will have to get used to the style Bilic wants to implement and they could be held back if they are to be rotated. West Brom haven't created many chances for the front men so far and it may take more work on the training ground first if the strikers are to start firing regularly.

They need to create better goalscoring chances

West Brom had 23 shots against Luton, which is an impressive return even though they were chasing the game after the 15th minute. However, of those only three were on target - with two goals scored - which suggests The Baggies need to improve their finishing, or that they didn't create many good chances.

The two goals they did score also came out of nowhere, with Diangana first showing his skill with a long-range strike before he guided a wayward shot into the bottom corner through an instinctive header.

Bilic brought in creative players like Filip Krovinovic and Romaine Sawyers but West Brom haven't yet found a style to get the best from their forward players, and have struggled a little for goals as a result.

They have shown they can use the ball effectively and if they can maintain that into the final third then they should be able to find the likes of Austin and Zohore and threaten the opposition goal more regularly.
