Swansea City routed Brentford at the Liberty Stadium on Tuesday night to move level on points with their opponents.

A Nathan Dyer brace and Daniel James strike earned Graham Potter’s men a 3-0 win to move up to 14th in the table ahead of Stoke City.

It was a fixture that the Welsh side dominated from start to finish with Dyer getting giving the hosts the lead inside the first minute before doubling his tally, and Swansea’s goal count on the evening just after the half hour.

In truth, the second goal killed the game before James added a third late on after assisting the first to round off the scoring.

With that said, here are THREE things we clearly learnt about Swansea after their comprehensive win over Brentford.

Nathan Dyer still has a part to play for Swansea

The 31-year-old is in the twilight of his career, but he rolled back the years last night to score his first two goals of the campaign.

Dyer was a menace throughout proceedings and has shown he still has a part to play in Potter’s side.

Swansea are a youthful team, and you cannot discount the impact experience can have on a squad like the Swans.

Dyer proved tonight he has a big role at the Liberty Stadium and a lot more to offer.

The play-off dream is still alive… just

Swansea’s win moves them up to 14th in the table, and ten points off the play-offs.

It keeps their hopes of making the play-offs just about alive, albeit due to them having one game in hand over sixth-placed Aston Villa.

The gap could be reduced to seven points if that is won, but it would depend on other teams and results over the final weeks of the campaign.

Their chances of extending their season are slim and out of their hands, but they are alive – just.

Daniel James’ value continues to increase

Daniel James’ reputation keeps growing and growing and last night added more money to his value.

It has been well documented the interest the 21-year-old has had throughout the season and last night only added more fuel to the fire after yet another impressive performance.

James scored and set up one to take his season totals to five goals and five assists in all competitions for club and country.
