Sunderland fell to a 2-1 defeat against Burton Albion on Tuesday night.

That result meant that it's now just two wins in 11 games for Phil Parkinson since he took charge of the club

Not only that, but the defeat against the Brewers looks to have had a a real impact on the Black Cats' standing in League One.

Parkinson's side have now dropped to 11th place in the league, and while they're three points off the play-offs, they're also nine points off their original target of the top two.

But what did we learn from the clash at the Stadium Of Light? Let's take a look.

Will Grigg needs to be dropped

He's undoubtedly a striker of great talent, but Will Grigg is struggling massively at the moment.

His lack of form is clearly affecting his confidence, and based on performances in recent weeks, it is showing little sign of getting better.

Perhaps a decision to drop Will Grigg and shuffle the pack could be a good move to ease the pressure on him with the intention of bringing him back in a few weeks.

Phil Parkinson under pressure

It's been a tough start to life at the Stadium Of Light.

Parkinson has won just two of 11 games since taking charge of the Black Cats and it seems that pressure is starting to build around his role as manager.

If the Sunderland board are going to make a change, it's crucial that it's done sooner rather than later before promotion is out of the question.

Fans are turning

Supporters haven't been happy for a few weeks now, but things are reaching boiling point.

Frustrations with the manager and the board are creating a really negative atmosphere around the club and it'd be naive to think that this isn't affecting performances.

Of course this is a vicious cycle, but things need to change so that fans enjoy watching their team again, otherwise things are only going to get worse.
