Sheffield Wednesday’s unbeaten run in the Championship came to an end on Saturday as they were beaten 1-0 by 10-man Millwall at the Den.

Matt Smith nodded in a Conor Mahoney corner to take the lead for the hosts after 37 minutes.

The Lions were reduced to 10 men on the eve of half-time after Jed Wallace was sent off for an awful tackle on Keiran Lee.

The Owls turned up the pressure in the second half but were unable to break Neil Harris’ side’s resolve.

The Yorkshire side came close with a number of opportunities late on but were unable to find an equaliser, as Bart Bialkowski kept out a shot from Barry Bannan and Steven Fletcher headed wide.

The result means Millwall remain unbeaten and overtake Wednesday in the table, with Lee Bullen’s side dropping to sixth.

With that in mind, we have outlined THREE things that we clearly learnt about the Owls after their defeat on Saturday...

Lee Bullen could have a selection headache between the sticks.

`

Keiren Westwood returned in goal after serving his one-match suspension but he produced a performance he will likely want to forget.

The 34-year-old was at fault for the Millwall goal as he rushed off his line to claim the corner but missed the ball, leaving Smith an easy header at the back post.

After a shaky few weeks for Westwood, and Cameron Dawson’s great performance against Barnsley, Bullen may be considering a change.

Kadeem Harris looks a phenomenal signing.

Harris put in his third consecutive brilliant performance for Wednesday after joining as a free agent in the summer.

His start to the season must’ve left Cardiff City bosses wondering why they ever let his contract expire.

The Owls should be counting their lucky stars because he produced a fantastic performance against Millwall and was the best player on the pitch for them.

The Owls aren’t quite at the top table yet.

After the opening two games, no team had more points than Wednesday and fans will likely have been starting to believe that they could compete right at the top this season.

Bullen’s side’s defeat at the Den was a frustrating one and is perhaps undeserved, but it was the type of game you need to be winning if you want to fight it out at the very top.

The defeat will likely raise some questions over whether Bullen, currently caretaker manager, is the right man to lead the Owls on a promotion push.
