Sheffield United once again fell short of expectations at the weekend in the Sky Bet Championship as the Blades fell to a 3-1 defeat away to Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park.

After initially taking the lead through a brilliant goal from Rhian Brewster, Slavisa Jokanovic's men conceded three goals in the space of just over 30 minutes to leave Lancashire empty handed.

That result leaves the Steel City side sitting in 18th place of the Championship table, with the club having more questions than answers at this point in time after their latest slip up.

Jokanovic must now pick the bones out of the defeat and look to get his team bouncing back at the earliest opportunity as they fell further behind in the promotion race.

Here, we take a look at THREE things we clearly learnt about Sheffield United after their 3-1 loss to Blackburn...

It may have been a very small drop in the ocean but the goal scored by Brewster at the weekend will no doubt do his confidence the world of good.

The youngster was found well by Billy Sharp and he finished emphatically as he underlined the undoubted talent that he does possess.

His start to life at Bramall Lane has been pretty rough and now the challenge will be for him to hit the net consistently for his side.

He has shown previously at Swansea City that he can cut it at this level and the challenge now will be to show that he can do it again.

Sharp is crucial

The veteran skipper is gradually developing into the creator and chief for the Blades at present.

His assist for Brewster's goal on Saturday was his sixth already this season and underlined the new role that he has taken on under Jokanovic.

No longer really capable of getting in behind, the 35-year-old now regularly drops deep in order to play defence splitting balls in behind and is still very much a great asset for his side.

Sharp has already shown that he can adapt as his career goes into it's twilight years.

January reshuffle needed

If it wasn't obvious before, it certainly is now - Sheffield United need to offload some players in the new year.

There are currently too many players that are not only underperforming but not needed at Bramall Lane and for that reason Jokanovic must be looking at potential solutions for January.

The Serb will most likely want to bring in more players of his own liking, which means some will inevitably have to go the other way in order to balance the books.

Sifting through the pack will now be the aim of the game, with finding buyers for the individuals that they want off the books being easier said than done.
