Reading gained a valuable point on Wednesday night as they frustrated West Brom at the Hawthorns.

José Gomes' side took the lead with just 20 minutes left when Liverpool loanee, Ovie Ejaria, fired home emphatically from outside the box.

The Royals looked to be set for three points but with two minutes left the goalscorer brought down Filip Krovinovic in the box, and Kenneth Zohore stepped up and ensured the points were shared.

The Royals moved up to 15th, as they continue to impress in a new system that uses three centre-backs with a wing-back on either side.

Having beaten Cardiff comfortably on Sunday, hopes are high that the Royals may surprise a few teams in the coming season. They travel to winless Huddersfield on Saturday hoping to keep this little run intact.

Here are THREE things we clearly learned from Reading's 1-1 draw with West Brom...

Ejaria is the real deal

For the second time in a week, Ejaria was outstanding. The ball practically sticks to the midfielder's foot and his ability to carry the ball relieved Reading from danger on a number of occasions.

He has a natural ability in terms of dribbling, and he added to that with a stunning strike late in the game. It was a superb goal, and nothing more than he deserved after the brilliant week he has had.

After a good spell on loan at the Royals last season, he seems to have improved as a player even more over the summer. Hopefully he can continue on Saturday up at Huddersfield.

Centre-backs won't concede many

Liam Moore, Michael Morrison and Matt Miazga were all brilliant once more against West Brom. They looked solid playing in a back three and comfortable in the new formation.

The amount of blocks, and lack of space given to the Baggies was impressive. Reading had five shots on-target to West Brom's four, which tells you all you need to know about where Bilic's side were shooting from. The centre-backs will be a tough nut to crack this season.

Players looked knackered

With games coming thick and fast, Gomes might have a few decisions to make in the near future. This is purely based on fitness. Coming to the end of the night, the Royals looked out on their legs, although, the Baggies did have the extra day rest due to playing on the Saturday but Reading looked knackered.

Games at Huddersfield on Saturday and then Plymouth next Tuesday will require a number of changes, it'll be interesting to see whether Gomes opts to change many when they visit the Terriers or to save the mass changes for the Carabao Cup trip.
