Steve McClaren's QPR side ended a three game losing streak as they narrowly beat fellow strugglers Reading 1-0 at the Madejski Stadium on Tuesday.

Toni Leistner was on target for QPR who will feel they could have finished the game off with a number of good chances not being taken by McClaren's side who had previously not scored in their previous two matches which ended in defeat to Swansea and Blackpool in the Carabao Cup.

Nahki Wells was denied by a smart save from Reading keeper Sam Walker midway through the first half, whilst Jordan Cousins wasted a good chance, heading over from 12 yards out.

QPR's pressure soon told in the second half as Leistner smashed home from close range after a goal-mouth scramble caused carnage in the Royals defence.

Check out the three things we learnt about McClaren's side after their vital win over the Royals.

The three points were vital for QPR as they face a tough October, with matches against Derby County, Sheffield Wednesday and Aston Villa all to come this month, it is set to be a tough month for McClaren's team.

Steve McClaren has shown that his side can grind out results away from home, despite only winning away once before Tuesday's game, QPR dominated large parts of the match and never looked troubled in defence with Toni Leistner scoring the winner for Rangers.

Massimo Luongo played a pivotal role in his side's win, completing 36 passes, which was the highest by any QPR player on the night and the Australian international will be confident of building on recent positive performances.
