Queens Park Rangers bounced back from a dismal run of form at the weekend, defeating Swansea City by four goals to nil at Loftus Road.

Going into the weekend, plenty of R's fans were fearing the worst, with Swansea winning their last three games at home, scoring nine goals in their last three outings, and eager to build on their disappointing away form.

The R's, however, were in dire straits going into the weekend, embarking on a winless run of seven league games before Saturday's fixture with a search for a new manager still on.

But the West London club blew everyone across the country away after an electric start to the game, as goals from Darnell Furlong and Tomer Hemed propelled the R's into a 3-0 lead after just 17 minutes.

Massimo Luongo then made it 4-0 just after half-time, capping off what was a hugely impressive afternoon at Loftus Road. Here, we take a look at three things we learnt about QPR at the weekend...

One up front does work

A lot is said about the lone striker system, with most people believing that it is a negative way to go about things, especially in front of your home fans.

But after deploying a 4-4-2 formation on Wednesday night against Millwall, John Eustace switched things up and played a 4-1-4-1 formation, where Tomer Hemed was brought in to lead the line for the R's.

And, with just 17 minutes on the clock, the Brighton loanee had already scored two goals, after clearly thriving in the new system.

The formation does work, and Rangers need a player of his physical prowess to lead the line more often.

They aren't on the beach just yet

After recent defeats to ten-man Norwich and relegation-threatened Bolton, many were questioning the character and mentality in the R's squad after such a poor run of form.

But the players certainly showed on Saturday that they are still up for the fight, and put in a magnificent performance in front of their own fans.

Their may not be anything to play for now, but their desire and character certainly wasn't up for debate at the weekend.

There is potential for whoever is in charge

Whoever is appointed as Steve McClaren's successor at Loftus Road has got something promising to work with, for sure.

Regardless of their disappointing league position right now, there are still some very talented players in that squad, with the likes of Luke Freeman, Josh Scowen and Darnell Furlong putting in standout performances at the weekend.

If a new manager can come in and hit the ground running and keep hold of their key players, they could be a real force to be reckoned with next term.
