Saturday saw Millwall make it three homes wins in a row and back-to-back victories in the league for the first time this campaign.

The win moved Neil Harris’ men up to 18th in the division having seen off a poor Ipswich side 3-0 at The Den.

A brace from Lee Gregory was followed up with Ryan Leonard’s first goal for the club to round off a solid display from the London Club.

Having had a poor start to the season, Millwall have now managed to remain unbeaten in two matches and have lost just once in their last five games.

Jake Cooper registered two more assists to make it five for the season - the most in the league at present, as well as the Lions notching just their second clean sheet of the year.

It was a thoroughly deserved victory for Millwall who will be hoping this small upturn of form is a shift in their luck this season.

With that said, here are three things we clearly learnt about Millwall after their 3-0 win over Ipswich.

The 27-year-old returned to the starting XI after being out with a knee injury for the past two months, and his presence was monumental for the Lions.

This season, Millwall have only lost once when Shaun Hutchinson has played, winning three times.

He has been a big miss - having one once in eight matches without him.

The Lions’ vice-captain is interregnal to the success of Neil harris’s side and having him back is like having a new signing, that is his importance.

And he was as impressive as ever in the win over Ipswich at the weekend.

Millwall fans have only seen Murray Wallace play as a right-sided centre-half.

And, being left-footed, they failed to see the best of him there.

Until the last few weeks where he adapted to the role and started to perform strongly.

Enough so, that James Meredith was dropped for the first time in 61 matches.

Wallace has been playing so well in the middle of the defence that he had to stay in the team and showed the capabilities in the left-back berth.

The winger came in for the injured Jed Wallace at the weekend and apart from one good delivery from a free-kick, did not provide that much more.

His wing play was erratic despite trying his best; he was not as direct nor as influential as Wallace has been in recent weeks.

Jiri Skalak has not got the same energy levels as his teammate and having not featured that much, that is to be understood.

If he wants to keep a place in the side once Wallace is fit, he needs to offer more regarding his attacking creativity.
