Luton Town are seemingly set for a return to the Championship for the first time in 12 years, after an utterly dominant display against Doncaster Rovers this weekend.

The Hatters were superb from start to finish in a match that was very much men against boys. The play-off chasing Doncaster players spent the afternoon chasing nothing but their own shadows as they were completely undone by Mick Harford's team.

Harford was managing Luton when they fell out of the Football League, partly thanks to a 30-point deduction. It's almost cathartic that their one-time centre forward is now at the helm overseeing the final stages of their redemption.

They're now five points clear of Barnsley in second place, nine clear of Portsmouth in third. They're playing with all the style and grace of a side destined for much better things, as Grant McCann's side found out to their cost.

Here's three things their win told us this weekend.

Pelly-Ruddock Mpanzu is vital

The former West Ham man was in and out of the side in League Two, but he's upped his game and has been incredible this season.

He ran the show from start to finish for the Hatters, bagging a goal in the process.

They need that new ground

10,071 crammed into Kenilworth Road for this encounter, with the capacity listed around 10,300.

There's a thirst for a successful football club in Luton and the sooner the bricks are put in place on the new ground, the better.

They've got goals throughout the team

They won 4-0 this weekend against a side chasing a top six position and they did it without their leading scorer.

James Collins is on international duty with Eire, yet they were still unstoppable.
