Luton went down 2-0 on the weekend, with no thanks to goalkeeper Simon Sluga, who's mistake gave Derby County the crucial lead in the fixture.

It was a disappointing defeat at a rejuvenated Rams side who earned their second victory of the week.

Graeme Jones will have been left raging after the way his side gave away both goals, and will be hoping to get back to winning ways after the international break.

There wasn't much between the sides but a mistake and a moment of quality from Tom Lawrence meant that the Hatters lost for the first time since a home defeat against Hull City.

Here are THREE things we clearly learned about Luton in their loss to Derby on Saturday...

Sluga has to improve

The goalkeeper, since signing for a club record fee, has failed to deliver. He's made a number of mistakes and they're becoming crucial within games, just like his was on Saturday.

He deserves time to turn it around, but sometimes when a keeper isn't playing well, he needs to have a break and try and regain that confidence that he once had.

His overall game is still positive and he is handy in possession. If he can get rid of the mistakes then Luton will have a top class goalkeeper on their hands.

Creativity is key

The team that started the fixture was fairly solid, but throughout the game they lacked creativity and weren't good enough to create any chances going forward.

The Hatters brought on Izzy Brown and Kazenga LuaLua and that made a difference and they were hoping to get an equaliser before Lawrence netted the second.

After the international break, they face high-flying Bristol City at Kenilworth Road, and maybe it's time for Jones to try a more creative team in search of his side scoring some more goals.

Formation is reliant on full-backs being able to get forward

The formation is very narrow and it relies on the full-backs being able to offer substantial support to the attacking players.

That didn't happen and meant that a lot of the time Luton couldn't find a way to get into good attacking areas. They need to find a way to get Dan Potts and James Bree forward, and that would mean that the Hatters' play in the attacking-half would be more effective.
