Charlton made it two wins out of two at the weekend in the Sky Bet Championship as they beat Stoke City 3-1 at The Valley.

The Potters have been once again tipped by many for promotion this year but it's the Addicks that are helping set the early pace at the moment, keeping Sheffield Wednesday company at the top of the league.

They'll be hoping they can keep that up for as long as possible, then, and Lee Bowyer will have been pleased with a lot of what he saw from his players in the blustery conditions in South East London.

Plenty of players caught the eye, then, but what exactly did we learn about the men in red and white from this one?

Here are three things we took from the clash on Saturday afternoon...

Great options out wide

Jonny Williams caused chaos down the left at times with his obvious dribbling talent whilst Jonathan Leko excited with some tricks and fancy footwork.

The pair provided a good outlet on either side of the pitch and that helped alleviate pressure when Stoke were in possession and looking to build attacks.

Conor Gallagher is one to watch

The young loanee had an energetic game and was good value for the goal he eventually slammed home to help seal the game.

He's a busy footballer that isn't shy to get his foot in and ahead of Josh Cullen and Darren Pratley they made for a pretty handy midfield set-up for the Addicks.

He's not going to go missing this season, you feel.

Lyle Taylor is at home at this level

It's two in two for Taylor in the league this season and he looks well at home at this level.

His goal was simply fantastic.

After what had been a tentative twenty or so minutes he sparked things into life after picking the ball up and slamming across Jack Butland from outside of the box.

He's in the form of his life and opposing defenders need to be wary.
