Brentford were held to yet another draw at home to the division's strugglers, after a disappointing 1-1 draw with Birmingham City on Tuesday night.

The Bees, despite a flying start to the season, are winless in their last four league games, and really should have claimed all three points at Griffin Park in midweek.

Dean Smith's men found themselves 1-0 down within the first half hour after Michael Morrison's goal for the visitors, before midfielder Josh McEachran struck for the Bees just before half-time.

Tempers then boiled, when Blues midfielder Maikel Kieftenbeld was sent off for an off-the-ball incident with Neal Maupay, as boss Garry Monk was also sent off for his protests in the aftermath.

But the Bees were unable to break City down, and they fell to their fifth draw of the season - they now sit fifth in the Championship after four wins, five draws and two defeats from their opening 11 league games.

Here, we take a look at THREE things we learnt about Brentford in their 1-1 draw with Birmingham on Tuesday night.

The Bees had a staggering 74% possession against Blues, which is partly due to the Kieftenbeld red card, but also down to Dean Smith's philosophy and the Bees' quality on the ball.

When they have that much possession though, they need to make it count, as to have 74% against 10 men only to score once is poor.

The 22-year old is such an important player for Brentford and Tuesday night's performance definitely proved that.

Watkins missed the game due to injury, and the Bees missed their man's cutting edge and finishing abilities.

With a number of players out with injury, the Bees are unable to rotate their squad as much as they would like to at the minute.

This was typified when they brought on holding midfielder Nico Yennaris at the death in a last-ditch effort to grab a goal.

As soon as Smith gets some players back, the better.
