Birmingham City extended their unbeaten run to 11 games as they salvaged a late point against Sheffield Wednesday in an entertaining 3-3 draw on Saturday.

Blues, who were coming up against former boss Garry Monk, took the lead after Jacob Murphy scored an own goal but Barry Bannan equalised.

Lukas Jutkiewicz then put the hosts back in front, before a Fernando Forestieri penalty ensured the sides went into the break all-square.

The Owls improved in the second half and Murphy redeemed himself by scoring what appeared to be the winner.

However, the West Midlands outfit kept fighting and they were rewarded in stoppage time when Scott Hogan volleyed home from close range to continue his fine form.

The result leaves Blues 14th in the Championship and 11 points from the play-offs but they will take encouragement from another game without defeat and here we look at THREE things we learnt from the clash...

The front two have formed an effective partnership

There's no doubt that the signing of Hogan has transformed Blues, with the on-loan Aston Villa man giving the team a real cutting edge.

As well as that, he has formed a hugely effective partnership with Jutkiewicz, who is a great target man at this level. He complements Hogan well and the duo are very dangerous as a pairing.

The team has real belief

Birmingham weren't at their best on Saturday but they still picked up a point and that was down to the spirit in the group.

The team kept believing a result was possible and they didn't get too down about going behind in the second half. That positive attitude will have delighted Clotet.

There is still room to improve

Despite the overall positivity that rightly surrounds the club right now, there are still areas to improve.

Wednesday went into this fixture on a poor run but they will feel they should have won. Blues were sloppy defensively and need to cut out those mistakes moving forward.
