Garry Monk's Birmingham City have got supporters dreaming of a return to the Premier League after a lengthy spell away from the top flight.

The Blues made it back-to-back wins with a 2-0 win over in-form Stoke City on Boxing Day, and the result has seen the Blues rise up the table.

Birmingham are now seventh in the Championship table, and are just two points adrift of a play-off place which will be hugely pleasing reading for everyone associated with the club.

Jacques Maghoma gave Monk's side the lead on the day just minutes before the half-time whistle, before Omar Bogle made an instant impact to double Birmingham's lead just five minutes after coming on as a substitute.

Not many would have predicted Birmingham to be in play-off contention, but they have certainly silenced those doubters with a number of impressive performances this season.

So, what have we learnt about Birmingham after the win over Stoke?

Find out here....

It was Stoke that had large spells with the ball, with Birmingham only having 33% of possession in the game on Wednesday.

But it was Monk's side that certainly took their chances on the day, and kept Stoke at bay to end their 11 game unbeaten streak.

This counter-attacking, clinical style of football is evidently working this season, with Birmingham well in the hunt for a top six finish.

Birmingham have one of the best records at home in the Championship this season and will be keen to maintain that for the rest of this year.

The Blues have only been defeated once at home, and they seem to be beating the bigger sides on their own patch as well, with Stoke leaving empty handed on Boxing Day.

Omar Bogle has had his fair share of injury problems since arriving at Birmingham, but he will be pleased to score his first goal for Monk's side on Boxing Day.

It was his first of the season, and he will be keen to prove himself to the Birmingham boss on a more regular basis going forward.

Getting him in a confident mood could be massive for the remainder of the season.
