Barnsley picked up yet another crucial win in their hunt for promotion from League One, after a convincing 4-1 win away from home against struggling AFC Wimbledon.

The Tykes were looking to gain ground on the automatic promotion places and make it five wins in six games against a Wimbledon side that are rooted to the foot of the table, seven points adrift of safety.

Daniel Stendel's men got off to the perfect start - Cauley Woodrow netted on 19 minutes, before Joe Pigott equalised for Wally Downes' men with ten minutes left to play of the first half.

But the Yorkshire club were rampant in the second half, with goals from Kieffer Moore, Mamadou Thiam and Cameron McGeehan securing an emphatic 4-1 win for the Tykes.

After yet another impressive performance and result for the club, here, we take a look at three things we clearly learnt about Barnsley after their 4-1 win over AFC Wimbledon at the weekend...

They will be lucky to keep hold of Kieffer Moore this month

Perhaps the most important piece of business for Barnsley to do this month is turn their phones off and snub any interest for Kieffer Moore.

The towering forward netted his 15th goal of the season at the weekend, and also produced an assist for Thiam that practically secured the win for Stendel's men.

He's a handful up front, he's tall, strong, quick, he can score goals and provide them for other people too, and it's fair to say that if the 26-year old is still at Oakwell come the end of the season, the Yorkshire club have done well to reject any interest in such a talented striker.

They really can cope without Brad Potts

One key player that has recently departed Oakwell for a higher level is midfielder Brad Potts, who signed for Preston North End for a reported seven-figure fee.

The departure of the 24-year would have come as a massive blow for Daniel Stendel, having scored seven goals and produced six assists this term, and could have been a real blow in their hopes of promotion.

But Saturday's result showed just how impressive Barnsley's midfield is - Alex Mowatt produced yet another assist, whilst his midfield partner Cameron McGeehan popped up to score his third goal of the season after an impressive display. They will cope just fine without Potts.

They are still automatic promotion contenders.

Saturday's win at Kingsmeadow leaves Barnsley still sitting 5th in the Sky Bet League One table, and they find themselves for points off the top two.

But with a game in hand on Luton Town, the Tykes definitely have the ability and the players to put pressure on the teams above them, especially with winnable games against Rochdale and Oxford United coming up.

It's going to be a massive month for the club.
