Gary Rowett's impressive start to life as Millwall manager continued on Tuesday night as his side won 2-1 away to Bristol City.

Jed Wallace opened the scoring before Jake Cooper doubled their lead with 20 minutes left to play, putting the visitors well in the ascendancy.

Callum O'Dowda pulled one back in the 84th minute for The Robins but it would be The Lions who took all three points from Ashton Gate, moving them into 12th place in the process.

Here, we look at THREE things we learned from this showing...

Wallace struggles inevitable

Jed Wallace has been a marvel since Gary Rowett arrived and he has propelled himself into the very top bracket of Championship attackers.

However, with the January transfer window just around the corner they are almost certainly going to face a fight to keep hold of him and this latest performance will not have helped.

He took his tally to eight goals and five assists and with Aston Villa reportedly eyeing him, the fans may have to enjoy him whilst they can.

Resilience

One of the biggest characteristics on display on Tuesday night was the Lions' resilience.

With Callum O'Dowda clawing the Robins back into the game with six minutes of the 90 remaining, Millwall fans will have been fearful of missing out on all three points.

However, they defended brilliantly, allowing their promotion-chasing hopes very little hope of clawing back their pride.

Something that will go down very well amongst The Den regulars.

Attacking versatility

Whilst Jon Dadi Bodvarsson did not contribute directly to the win during his 76 minutes on the pitch, he remained a solid and useful outlet up-front.

He replaced Matt Smith in the XI whilst Tom Bradshaw also returned to start. It shows the attacking resources available to Rowett at the moment.

None of the strikers are likely to net 20 goals this season, but their willingness to rotate in order to help the team perform at a regular high-standard will be very pleasing to the fans.
