In the biggest match of the Championship so far this season, league leaders Cardiff City faced second placed Wolverhampton Wanderers in an early top of the table clash.
Wolves were one of the sides expected to challenge for promotion this year after a summer of heavy spending and high profile targets brought in, and had got off to the perfect start.
Cardiff were seen more as dark horses for promotion than outright favourites, and had a fairly easy start to the season that had seen them win all their games thus far.
Wolves presented their first great test.
And they passed it with flying colours.
Cardiff were the better side as Joe Ralls opened the scoring for the Bluebirds, before Wolves mustered an equaliser through Leo Bonatini in the 67th minute.
But 13 minutes before time, Nathaniel Mendez-Laing cut into the box and curled in the winner, seeing Cardiff remain top of the table.
