Max Power salvaged a late draw to hand Sunderland a 1-1 draw against Fleetwood Town at the Stadium Of Light.

That result brings an end to their four-match winning run and sees them miss the opportunity to close the gap on the top two to just one point.

An early effort from Barrie McKay set Joey Barton's side on their way early in the first half, but while Chris Maguire and Lyden Gooch had efforts before the break it was Fleetwood who held the lead at the break.

Sunderland huffed and puffed in the second period and got their reward with the last kick of the game as Max Power curled home an effort in the 96th minute.

Here's three things we learned about Phil Parkinson's side.

An uncharacteristic nervy display

Considering how impressive they've been of late, Sunderland struggled to get going at the Stadium Of Light.

A high press from Joey Barton's side forced several defenders - most notably Jordan Willis - into a couple of errors in the early stages which allowed Fleetwood to capitalise.

The Black Cats got themselves together after weathering an early storm and got their rewards late on, but they were very close to being punished for their shaky start.

Captain Fantastic

It was far from a stellar performance from Phil Parkinson's side, but Max Power was one man who stood out.

The skipper led by example throughout as he rallied his troops to raise their game after falling behind.

While obviously his late goal will be what captures most of the attention after the game, other notable moments included picking Denver Hume off the floor when he suffered a blow to the head as he told him to get on with it, while also throwing Fleetwood's cones and bibs down the tunnel after holding up the second half with a sluggish exit from the pitch.

Can you name every Sunderland player's shirt number this season?

One point gained

While Sunderland would have preferred to get all three points, there's no doubt that this was a point gained.

The Black Cats won't be able to win every game between now and the end of the season but the key thing is that if you can't win a match, don't lose it.

That draw keeps the momentum going, and while there's work to be done, it's a result which will see Sunderland full of confidence going into the clash with Coventry City.
