Wolves entertain Bolton Wanderers tonight having endured a busy transfer window which included the loss of their star player Benik Afobe.

They did manage to stem the blow by bringing in Joe Mason from Cardiff to bolster their attacking options, while adding Mike Williamson to their defensive ranks.

Bolton on the other hand were in no position to act, as paying wages and keeping the club afloat was more important. They flirted with the possibility of losing star name Zach Clough, but he remained in place in what is a real boost for Neil Lennon.

The Trotters currently sit bottom of the Championship table, and need to start picking up results quickly if they are to fight against relegation successfully.

Wolves on the other hand sit in mid table, and have seen a run at the play offs fail to materialise.

Bolton will be buoyed by their record against Wolves though, having only lost one of the last ten meetings.

Here, I look at THREE things to look out for during tonight’s game at Molineux.....

1) A must win?

While it might not seem the most attractive affair on paper, the game could be vitally important to the season goals of both teams.

A win for Wolves would move them to within six points of a play-off place, meaning a late push could well be on the cards.

For Bolton on the other hand, a win would bring them right back in to the mix of surviving relegation, putting them within two points of fourth from bottom Bristol City.

It will be interesting to see just how the game pans out and how both managers set up their respective 11’s.

2) Wolves' form

Wolves have struggled for consistency in the main this season, but are unbeaten in five league games and have won four of those.

Kenny Jackett will be hoping the run can continue tonight and as he looks to try and guide them to within at least an outside chance of promotion.

Molineux will need to become a fortress between now and the end of the season if a challenge is to be sustained, and a game against the league's bottom club could be the perfect tonic to keep their run going now the transfer window has closed.

3) Joe Mason

The January signing could go straight in to the team to face Bolton and he will be looking to get off to a flying start to his career.

At £3m, he is a pretty big money signing in Championship terms, and he will be hoping to repay the faith shown in him by Kenny Jackett by firing in the goals required to replace those of the now departed Afobe.

Mason has scored five goals this season while at Cardiff, and he will be looking to add to that tally as embarks on a new chapter in his career.
