Gary Caldwell's Wigan will look to stretch their unbeaten league run to 11 games against Shrewsbury today (3pm kick-off)

So far this season, Wigan have taken 30 points from 17 games, including 13 from a possible 15, while Shrewsbury have accumulated just 17 points from 16 games, and sit just a point above the relegation zone.

Wigan's William Grigg and Michael Jacobs have been keeping Gary Caldwell's side afloat, with ten goals between them this season, while no Shrewsbury player has scored five or more goals - a chief reason why they are near the bottom four.

Here, FootballLeagueWorld writer Jack Smillie identifies three things to look out for during this League One clash...

1) Wigan's Reece James

The full-back came off in the first half of the 2-0 win over Rochdale following a robust challenge, but is winning his race against time to be fit for the game at the DW Stadium.

Wigan hope that the former Manchester United youngster will be fit enough to face Shrewsbury, as his performances have been to a good standard throughout the campaign so far.

The 22-year old has appeared in every league game for the Latics this season after joining the club in the summer - this after saying he was a Wigan fan as a boy.

2) Wigan's unbeaten run

The Latics extended their unbeaten run in Sky Bet League One to ten games after victory at Rochdale.

The question now is will they be able to keep this run going.

Caldwell's men have been mightily impressive so far. Will Grigg, who was back on the bench after international duty with Northern Ireland, may have to make do with sitting on the bench for another game as promising loanee, Alex Revell, eyes a home debut.

Caldwell knows that victory for his side, which would be their ninth of the season, could take them to within a point of the automatic promotion places.

3) Shrewsbury's Jermaine Grandison

Defender Grandison has returned to training this week after recovering from a back injury which has sidelined him for the last six games.

The 24-year old has played 137 games for Shrewsbury since joining in January 2011, and has already made nine league appearances this term for the Shrews.

He has been a rock at the back throughout his time at New Meadow, and has also been one of the fans' favourite players.

Shrewsbury have certainly missed him recently, and he should provide some much-needed defensive solidarity if he makes his return this weekend.

Wigan and Shrewsbury fans... how do you think the game will go? Can Wigan make it 11 games unbeaten? Or will Shrewsbury pick up a sixth win of the league? Let us know your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!
