The Shrews are hovering precariously above the relegation zone in Sky Bet League One, while the Owls have infiltrated the play-off positions in the Championship amid a host of spending by their new owners.

While on paper it looks like nothing less than an away win, the magic of the FA Cup is still firmly alive, and after dispatching Cardiff City in the last round, Micky Mellon's side will more than fancy their chances of another upset.

Wednesday on the other hand will no doubt rotate their squad, with the likes of Atdhe Nuhui and Jose Semedo likely to feature for Carlos Carvalhal's side.

Wednesday are unbeaten in five games, winning four of them, while the Shrews are showing patchy form, losing 1-0 to Oldham Athletic last time out but beating league leaders Burton Albion in previous weeks.

FootballLeagueWorld writer Lee Connor identifies three things to look out for in today's FA Cup tie...

1) The Shrews can do it

While they sit just outside the relegation zone, the Shrews are more than capable of pulling off an upset today.

They have demonstrated this not only in the cup with the win at Cardiff, but also ran out 2-1 winners away to Burton Albion and beat Sheffield United 4-2 at Bramall Lane earlier in the season.

While Wednesday will no doubt represent their sternest test to date, there is every chance that they can progress to the fifth round, and set up a potentially money spinning tie with one of the big boys.

2) Will Shrewsbury be able to score?

The stats do not lie. Shrewsbury struggle for goals as a team, and their top scorer being on only three goals says it all really.

Wednesday on the other hand boast a solid defence of international quality, with Glen Loovens, Michael Turner and Daniel Pudil making up just some of the names in the back four.

If the Shrews are going to advance, they must take any chances that come their way.

They have only scored 15 home goals in the league so far, and chances are likely to be at a premium. If one comes their way, it must hit the back of the net if they are to win the game.

3) The Hooper-Forestieri connection

If Carvalhal does opt for a strong eleven, then Gary Hooper and Fernando Forestieri are his first choice strikers.

If they play, Shrewsbury can fear the worst.

Forestieri has been one of the best players in the division this season and is in double figures for goals already, while Hooper celebrated making his move from Norwich City permanent with a goal at Reading last week.

They really are a handful for any defence, and the Shrews will have to be on top of their game to manage them.

Forestieri in particular represents a real challenge. He will look to drop off into space and play as a traditional number ten, leaving defenders in limbo as when to go with him or stand off him, which is something to really look keep an eye on during today's match.
