The grudge match of the penultimate weekend of the Championship season comes from Hillsborough, and the battle for sixth spot.

The Owls are currently the occupiers of the final play-off spot, on 71 points and four ahead of the Bluebirds. If they avoid defeat today, Sheffield Wednesday would put the race beyond doubt, either moving seven points ahead or, in the case of a draw, maintaining a four point gap over their rivals.

A win for Cardiff, however, would narrow the gap to a single point ahead of the final day fixtures next weekend. Wednesday are also in with a slim chance of a finishing fifth, although will need a six-point and five-goal swing in order to book a potentially easier play-off tie.

Both teams will be extremely pleased with how they have fared in the season so far. However, both won't want to fall short now, as Wednesday look to get back to the top flight for the first time since the turn of the century, and Cardiff look to book their second promotion to the Premier League in their history.

So here, according to FLW's Ryan Evans, are THREE things to look out for in this important tie this Saturday:

1) Team News - including a return for an important Bluebird

Such is the scale of the game, and the closeness of the two teams, the returning players could provide the all important boost that sees one of these teams come out on top in the tussle.

Home side Wednesday could welcome Sam Hutchinson back into the matchday squad following glandular fever, but will have to do without Ross Wallace for the remainder of the campaign, as he is currently serving his second game of a three match ban.

His ill-discipline in the MK Dons game could come back to haunt Carlos Carvalhal's men, but Cardiff themselves will have to do without Lex Immers and Joe Ralls, who are still out injured.

A boost for Russell Slade is in store, however, as defender Bruno Ecuele Manga, who has come up with important goals in their recent victories over Ipswich and Derby, is back for his team tonight.

Since he came off in the defeat to Fulham at the start of the month, Cardiff have been in indifferent form, winning one, drawing one and losing one to Bolton, QPR and Brentford respectively.

Can the 27-year old inspire his team to an important win?

2) Sheffield's stars to take it beyond Cardiff's reach?

With some amazing players on their books, Wednesday have been one of the most entertaining and impressive sides in the league this season.

Glenn Loovens, Barry Bannan, Gary Hooper, Kieren Westwood and, let's not forget, the outstanding Fernando Forestieri, were all in most neutrals minds for team of the season, and, if they can keep this squad together, may be able to go for the title if they fail to get promotion this season.

The attacking prowess of Bannan, Hooper and Forestieri have and astonishing 28 goals, 12 assists and 13 man of the match awards between them this season, an outstanding 45% of the club's total goals this term.

The three of them are turning into a formidable partnership, and their probably isn't a team in the second tier who would want to face the Owls with their stars in this sort of form.

Can they secure a play-off spot for their team?

3) How should Cardiff go at the game?

They seem to have quietly got into the position they find themselves in. Neither Cardiff's defence or attack has been out of this world, and Slade will be in two minds on how to approach this game.

They need to win, but how? The Owls back four is decent, conceding less than all of the teams below them, and with Westwood in goal they have one of the best between the sticks in the second tier.

This solidity means they may want to invite them on and exploit the lack of pace it could be argued that Wednesday suffer from at the back. But with that, you invite the aforementioned trio to attack your goal - not exactly the best idea.

Whatever master plan that Slade asks his team to execute, City definitely have their merits. The defensive ability of Ecuele Manga, the goals of Whittingham, Pilkington and Noone, and the screening that Aron Gunnarsson provides means that the Bluebirds certainly haven't fluked their way into this position.

How do you think Cardiff should approach this do or die game?
